They also make perfect gifts for Christmas, Mother's Day, Father's Day, and a birthday. The list below describes how they contribute to my cooking experiences. I wouldn't share an item with you unless I've used it myself.

Favorite Pots and Pans

This roaster is the perfect size for cooking a roast, gumbo, or batch of Jambalaya. They are a good investment since they last long and can be passed on to the next generation. The proof is how they hold their value when looking for a used one. Very rare and pricey!

This was a wedding present from my grandparents. It will be passed down to my children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, or until Jesus returns. My favorite recipe to cook in this pot is the Chicken Gumbo With Sausage, Classic Cajun Recipe. It's very large and in charge!

The classic Le Creuset Enameled Cast Iron Signature Round Dutch Oven, 7.25 qt., in this pretty hombre Sea Salt color is my go-to pot. I fry, stew, and do just about any kind of cooking in it. This is my dream pot! I had wanted one for years, and my children gifted it to me one Christmas. It lives on my stove because of its beauty, ease of access, and how often I use it. Plus, it's a heavy dude!

This 8-inch American-made aluminumized steel USA Pan cooks evenly. It has a silicone coating, which allows for easy release and quick cleanup. This company makes pans in all sizes, and they are always a good buy. I like to give them to new brides because they last long and are so dependable.

Red, or rouge as the French say, is my favorite color in this durable, scratch-resistant Emile Henry Pie Dish made in France. It bakes evenly, is easy to clean, and goes from freezer or refrigerator to the oven to the table. There's no need to fold and crimp the pie crust since the pan's ruffled edges do the job for me.

Favorite Small Kitchen Appliances

With 1200 watts, this Nutribullet Blender crushes the ice in my protein shakes quickly and smoothly. It's easy to clean, and it sits plugged in and ready on my pantry shelf for easy access. This little powerhouse machine is priced right and comes with a 64-ounce pitcher and a smaller cup for blending single-serve smoothies and protein drinks. The cup comes with a lid so you can take it on the go.

Where would I be without this Air Fryer? It is so handy for cooking meats and veggies and warming up leftovers. It refreshes leftovers, such as fries and onion rings, back into hot, crispy treats. Amazing!

This is one of my favorite kitchen tools around the holidays. It's a perfect electric roaster, especially for cooking a turkey. It acts like an oven, freeing up your oven space while you make a feast. When cooking a turkey, I brine it overnight, then set it in the preheated roaster the next day. I don't have to do anything except a bit of basting if I want to, until it's cooked. This roaster helps feed a crowd for other dishes, such as The Beauty of a Jambalaya and Best Louisiana Rice Dressing, thanks to its warm setting and extra-large, easy-to-clean inner pot.

The Instant Pot is the safe, modern-day pressure cooker. No need to fear the pot blowing up and splattering food all over the kitchen here! It seals and doesn't release the lid until the pressure lowers after cooking. High pressure and temperature cook foods faster, resulting in more intense flavor and tenderness. It also has a slow-cook mode, helping me get meals on the table by letting me focus on other things while the food cooks. Click here for Instant Pot Recipes on the blog.

The Immersion Blender is one of Mississippi Man's - my husband's - favorite kitchen tools. He uses it for making chocolate shakes. Since he purchased one on his own, I have discovered that it makes homemade mayonnaise, whipped cream, and blended soups quickly and easily. Very powerful!

Oh, this Rice Cooker is a must-have in my kitchen! Rice is often served at my table because I like it, as most Cajuns do, and so does my family. This electric cooker makes rice perfectly every time. It also steams and has a setting for white or brown rice. All you do is measure the rice with the included plastic cup and fill the pot with water to the pre-measured line marked on the inside of the pot. Then season the rice with salt (I always add a little oil and vinegar), press the start button, and that's it. Perfect rice every time.

Hint: add a couple of ice cubes to the pot after it's cooked to keep the rice's surface from drying out while the pot keeps it warm before serving. I always cook extra rice to store in the freezer, ready for gumbo or rice and gravy.

My KitchenAid Stand Mixer is over 25 years old and still going strong! I use it often. It's a workhorse and comes in many colors with or without extra attachments. Spending a little more for this kitchen appliance is a wise investment. I suggest getting the model with the plastic collar to help keep ingredients in the bowl while mixing.

This small appliance is a powerful Food Chopper. It's better than using a full-size food processor because it does a better job at chopping a smaller amount of food. I use it often for chopping the Cajun trinity (onions, bell pepper, and celery) and making sauces.

This Deep Fryer strains and stores the used oil after frying. The lid has a glass window, the thermostat maintains a consistent heat level, and the basket cooks large batches. The appliance's parts come apart for easy cleaning. My family likes homemade potato chips, and this fryer makes the task easy!

This saves time! You can set the eggs to cook/steam while preparing the rest of your meal. The hardest part is pricking the eggs with the included needle. There is also a measuring cup to add the correct amount of water before closing the egg cooker and turning it on. It was used often when my granddaughter was on a boiled egg kick.

Nifty Kitchen Tools

Slicing has never been easier with this Mandolin. We use it to make homemade crispy potato chips. But beware, it's hazardous if you don't use the guard. So use it religiously. Take it from me, you can quickly get too close to the blade, then ouch!

This is a super-sharp manual Vegetable Chopper with a bottom drawer to catch the sliced food. It is easy to clean and keeps all components together for storage. Depending on the vegetable you are chopping, it may take a little muscle to press it into the blade. It grates, cuts, and shreds, cutting perfect matchstick potatoes for frying. The blades are so sharp, you don't dare pass your flesh by them. It has a mandelan blade and other options too.

This Shrimp Tool is a time saver! It's the littlest of my favorite kitchen tools. With one swoop, you can remove the shell and the black vein when peeling shrimp. I usually keep more than one in my kitchen drawer.

Every kitchen needs a good Knife Set. These German blades are stored in a wooden block, ready for service on your kitchen counter. The set comes with a pairing knife, bread knife, chef's knife, kitchen scissors, and a 9" steel.

Kitchen googles save me from crying many tears for no reason at all. They really work, especially if you're chopping a bunch for easy food prep, like in this Creole Seasoning Blend Recipe With Fresh Vegetables.

The roux spoon's straight and slanted ends are not only good for browning flour in oil, but also for stirring other ingredients at the bottom of a pot. The slanted edge makes it easier to stir more of the ingredients together. It's suitable for sauteing vegetables, browning meat, mixing sauces, and making candies such as pralines and fudge.
