Alas, no more guessing about how much and what kind of seasoning should go into my hamburgers, not with this Best Sizzle Burger Recipe around! One thing I never guess about is how to make them sizzle. If you're a Worcestershire user from way back, you know exactly what I'm talking about.

Making burgers used to be a fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants routine. But not anymore! I've purposely developed this recipe for consistent results. And my family and friends are thankful for it!
There's nothing fancy about these ingredients. You probably have what's needed in your kitchen right now. The success starts with using fresh ground chuck, an 80 percent lean/20 percent fat combination, and adding the right amounts of seasoning.
And speaking of seasoning, this House Seasoning Blend adds the perfect flavor to any burger. But it's not just for burgers. Use this blend wherever you sprinkle salt and pepper. One and a half teaspoons of the combination of salt, garlic, and cayenne pepper flavor a pound of ground meat superbly.
More Secrets To The Best Sizzle Burger Recipe
But there's one more important course of action needed, and it applies to anytime you're handling ground meat. When mixing and making the burgers, you want to lightly blend in the seasonings, egg, and bread crumbs. Here is where I use the end of my fingers to gently toss the meat and ingredients together, taking my time not to treat the hamburger harshly. I know this sounds picky, but it is absolutely necessary for a tender, juicy burger.
Not only is this method suitable for burgers, but also for meatballs, meatloaf, and hamburger steak. The results are flavor-packed, soft, and juicy bites of meat.
Also, when you are forming the patties, for heaven's sake, don't smash the meat together. This over-processing makes it dry out. Think about getting a free-form burger. They may even fall apart when turning and removing them from the pan. That's ok!
As you can see, these aren't the prettiest patties in the patch! They are not participating in a beauty contest. And after one bite of this juicy hamburger, no one will care.
Also, the meat will have a dark color resulting from the melted butter and Worcestershire sauce it cooks in. Yes, that's the best secret to the classic sizzle burger!
French's Worcestershire Sauce used to have a recipe on their bottle label for Sizzle Burgers, which is where I first learned how to make this quick, yummy meal for my family. All it called for was some melted butter in a pan and splashes of Worcestershire sauce to cook hamburger patties in. Super simple and so delicious!
But our recipe today takes it a few steps further.
PrintBest Sizzle Burger Recipe
A perfectly seasoned juicy burger that is consistently delicious every time.
- Total Time: 30 minutes
- Yield: 8 burgers 1x
Ingredients
2 pounds ground chuck
2 teaspoons sea salt
1 teaspoon granulated garlic powder
½ teaspoon onion powder
⅛ teaspoon cayenne pepper, or more
1 egg
1 slice bread, processed into crumbs
4 tablespoons salted butter
2 tablespoons Worchestershire sauce
Instructions
Place meat in a large bowl and add seasonings, Worchestershire Sauce, egg, and breadcrumbs to the dish.
Mix together gently and thoroughly with hands and loosely form into 8 hamburger patties, do not squeeze patties together.
Preheat griddle or pan adding 1 tablespoon of butter before placing 4 burgers onto the hot pan, careful not to burn the butter.
Cook on each side, allowing the patties to get a dark, crusty outer layer and the desired doneness on the inside.
Remove burgers and set aside then repeat with the next 4 burgers.
Turn off the heat and place all of the burgers together in the pan, serve emmeiately or cover and set aside.
Notes
- Compressing and handling the patties too much causes them to toughen and dry out.
- Don't salt the hamburgers ahead of time, the salt causes the meat to dry out when seasoned too far in advance. Season right before cooking.
- In place of the salt, garlic granules, and cayenne, add 1-½ teaspoons of House Seasoning Blend.
- Prep Time: 10 minutes
- Cook Time: 15 minutes
