A Buttery Chocolate Treat
Have you ever made the One Bowl Brownie recipe found on the box of Bakers Unsweetened Baking Chocolate Squares? It's a mystery how 7 simple ingredients turn out to be the best fudge brownie one can put in their mouth. I mean, there's absolutely no reason to buy a boxed brownie mix, ever. Plus, its made in a jiffy all in one bowl.
This Fudgy Chocolate Mug Brownie gets its roots from that one bowl recipe. The difference is that it's made in one mug with some adjusted measurements and a few surprising enhancements.
One of those enhancements is the addition of Instant Espresso Powder. Coffee boosts the taste of chocolate without the taste of the coffee. So for more chocolate taste in your recipes, just add strong brewed coffee or some of this Instant Espresso Powder.
When making this brownie, use a large microwaveable mug. You don't want to burn your hands and you need plenty of room for the brownie to rise when cooking.
First, you melt the butter and the chocolate together, then stir in the rest of the ingredients one at a time. The batter looks so delicious you'll want to eat it up, but don't give in to the temptation! It gets better after 70 seconds in the microwave.
The Magic That Happens In The Oven
Here is the best of the many assets this recipe holds. When you pull that mug out of the microwave, you'll see a fluffy cake-like brownie on top. Give it a few minutes to cool, if you can stand the wait, then dig your spoon way down deep into the bottom of the mug. You'll pull up a spoonful of nutty, ooey-gooey hot, and delicious chocolate sauced brownie. Yum!
What makes it even better is a scoop of ice cream with whipped cream and a cherry on top, and you've got yourself an instant Hot Fudge Sundae better than I-Hop!Print
1 ounce unsweetened baking chocolate squares
3 tablespoons salted butter
¼ cup granulated sugar
1 whole egg
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
¼ teaspoon espresso powder
pinch of salt
¼ teaspoon vanilla flavoring
¼ cup chooped pecans
Grab a large microwave safe mug and place the butter and chocolate in it.
Microwave on high for 30 second, stir (being careful not to burn yourself when grabbing the handle) until butter is dissolved, then microvave for 15 seconds more and stir until chocolate is dissolved.
Stir in sugar for about 20 seconds then the egg until it is thouroughly incorporated.
Add the flour, espresso powder, and salt stirring to combine.
Add vanilla, stir, then mix in the pecans stirring just until they are mixed through the batter.
Place mug in microwave oven and cook on high for 1 minute and 10 seconds or until the top of the brownie looks cooked.
Remove with oven mit from the oven and allow to cool on a heat-proof surface for a few minutes then serve with a scoop of ice cream and/or whipped cream.
This brownie mug was cooked in an 1100 watt microwave oven on high perfectly for 1 minute and 10 seconds, adjust cook time for the wattage of the oven being used.
Substitue Swerve Sweetener for the sugar and add one tablespoon of milk with it for great taste and half the carb amount in this recipe. Brownie hardens when it is cold.

This is a 2 person mug brownie that is easy to whip up for a quick snack or dessert. It's simple enough to teach to your children and grandchildren so they can split it with you.
Another chocolate dessert you might like is this Pecan Pie Plaisir. It's much like the pie they used to serve in Picadilly restaurants. One of my all-time faves!
