- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup salted butter (1 stick)
- 1/2 cup peanut butter
- 2 cups rolled, old-fashioned oatmeal
Instructions
- Place powdered cocoa in a large saucepan, such as a Dutch oven.
- Whisk the cocoa while pouring in the milk until they are incorporated well.
- Stir the sugar into the cocoa mixture.
- Add the butter, and turn the heat on to medium to medium-high, stirring until the butter melts.
- Bring to a full rolling boil and boil for exactly 1 minute.
- Remove the pot from the heat and stir in the peanut butter and the oatmeal until the mixture is thickened.
- Spread out wax paper onto the counter and drop the cookies by tablespoon onto the wax paper.
- Allow the cookies to cool, and they will be able to be removed from the paper easily and ready to serve.
- Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place.
Notes
- Stir the fudgy cookie mixture until it thickens.
- Be sure to bring the mixture to a rolling boil before timing it for a full minute.
- Use 2 tablespoons or large soup spoons when dropping the cookies onto the wax paper; one spoon to fill with the cookie mixture, and one to scoop out the cookie mixture from the filled spoon to form even rounds.
