Top french bread with an onion and garlic flavored spread of butter, mayonnaise, and cheese then bake it for a crunchy crispy snack, appetizer, or dinner bread.

  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

1 16-ounce loaf French bread

1/2 cup salted butter, softened

1 cup mayonnaise

2 cups mozzarella cheese, grated

1 teaspoon minced or pressed garlic

1/4 cup sliced green onion tops

1/2 cup sliced ripe olives

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Slice bread into two halves lengthwise with knife parallel to the cutting surface and place them on a cookie sheet.

Mix the rest of the ingredients together into a medium-size bowl except for the ripe olives.

Spread the cheese mixture evenly onto the cut sides of both French bread halves.

Top with ripe olives evenly spaced.

Bake in the preheated oven for about 30 minutes or until they are lightly browned on the edges and underside.

Slice and serve.

Notes

Garnish with more green onions that are sliced and chopped.

This bread is just as good without the ripe olives.

Use as an appetizer, snack, or dinner bread to serve with any main meal.

Use baguettes sliced in rounds for small individual servings.
