- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
- 3/4 cup butter, softened
- 3/4 cups sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 3/4 cup fig or any flavor preserves
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Line cookie sheets with parchment paper.
- Place flour, salt, and nutmeg in a medium bowl mixing together, then set aside.
- Cream together in a large bowl the butter and sugar.
- Mix eggs and vanilla into the creamed butter.
- Add the flour mixture a little at a time and mix on low just until blended.
- Roll the dough by hand into small balls and place it on parchment-lined cookie sheets.
- Press thumb into each cookie to hold fig preserves.
- Bake for 10 minutes.
- Fill each cookie with fig or strawberry fig preserves.
- Remove cookies from pans and let cool on racks.
