Here is a quick and easy way to boil shrimp. They are delicious eaten all by themselves or added to many different dishes such as salads, casseroles, or in a sandwich.
2 pounds fresh or frozen raw shrimp, defrosted
8 cups water
3 tablespoons salt
4 dried bay leaves
1 teaspoon celery seeds
2 tablespoons peppercorns
1–2 tablespoons Slap Ya Mama Cajun Seasoning or other Cajun seasoning
2 large lemons, halved
Bring water to a boil in a large stockpot.
Add the ingredients, except for shrimp, squeezing lemon halves into the water.
Pour shrimp into the pot and cook for 5 minutes, giving them an occasional stir.
Strain the shrimp in a large strainer over the sink and serve.
Feel free to add any other ingredients you may like to this shrimp boil such as your favorite vegetables and extra seasoning.
The shrimp store well in the refrigerator for several days.
